At 9:30 a.m. on May 13, 2021, the first phase of the 2020-2021 school year meeting for the reception of students by college leaders was successfully held at the Faculty’s Home. This event was highly valued by the leadership of the college. Du Xiaocheng, secretary of the party committee of EMS, Song Min, dean, Wu Mingjian, deputy secretary of the party committee of EMS, Li Hao, deputy secretary of the party committee of EMS, Fang Debin, vice dean, and Yu Zhen, vice dean attended the event, and students representatives had face-to-face exchanges and conducted in-depth discussions on student growth and college development. The student representatives participating in the meeting were selected by each class and grassroots league branch, including ordinary students, class leader, league secretary, and head of the student organization.
The proposals of this conference are collected through different platforms such as the "Wuhan University Economic Management Student Union", "Wuhan University Economic Management Graduate Student Association" WeChat platform, "Economic Management Rights and Interests" QQ platform, and various classes and groups; after the collection is completed, the data from the Student Union will be collected. Screened and summarized the questions, and conducted extensive questionnaire surveys on common issues among them. A total of more than 1,000 questionnaires were distributed; after the survey, information on teacher-student exchanges, academic research, alumni resources, mental health work, college training goals, etc. There are 58 proposals in total, and the Student Union has reported relevant proposals to the various offices of the college in order to provide reasonable solutions to student rights issues.
EMS has been committed to creating an excellent style of study for a long time. The school has a strong academic atmosphere for teachers and students, and student representatives actively advise on academic research, course teaching and other related issues. First, through a sample survey of 283 undergraduate students, the results show that most students think that the current forms of teacher-student exchanges in EMS are not rich enough. Although there are some teacher-student co-construction activities, there are still insufficient extracurricular communication channels and inefficiencies. Higher issues. Second, compared with top universities, the faculty of our school needs to be improved; postgraduate courses have insufficient information and a lack of systematization of content arrangements; due to insufficient database resources and the use of data analysis software, the writing of scientific research papers is facing obstacles. Student representatives suggested that the college expand channels, strengthen teacher-student exchanges, and provide more data resources to create a good environment for teacher-student exchanges, academic training, and the construction of the college’s academic atmosphere.
The leaders of EMS gave substantive responses to related issues: First, for the teacher-student communication issues in class, the college should pay attention to the training of young teachers, so that young teachers can quickly master the skills and techniques of teaching, and promote the harmonious development of teacher-student relations . Regarding the issue of extracurricular teacher-student exchanges, various departments are encouraged to set up "academic tutors" to carry out extracurricular exchange activities; at the same time, students need to increase their initiative and actively participate in various academic research activities organized by EMS. Second, the college is studying how to introduce the "three-high curriculum" model to graduate students to provide all aspects of training for graduate students; at the same time, the college is working hard to achieve database procurement in order to provide sufficient resources for the majority of student groups.
Dean Song Min said that the introduction and training of young teachers is one of the key tasks of the college's "double first-class" construction. EMS will take further measures to introduce more outstanding young teachers and strengthen teacher training to improve the level of teachers in our college. Ability; broaden the communication channels between teachers and students, improve database construction, improve students' academic research ability, realize students' academic progress, and promote the development of EMS.
In the information age, how to make full use of college resources is the key to guiding the growth and development of students, and it is also the focus of our college students' attention. Based on this, the student representatives raised questions from the aspects of students’mental health, development direction, internship and employment, and alumni resources: First, in recent years, the psychological problems of postgraduates have received extensive attention. In the survey of the sources of postgraduate stress in our school, some students are due to academic pressure and employment. There are hidden dangers of psychological problems in pressure and communication pressure. Second, in the process of investigating undergraduates, some students think that the college’s interpretation of the training program is not clear enough, and they did not clearly put forward their own training goals. They are more presented in terms of ideas and spiritual concepts rather than specific goals. Students lack direction and goals for future development. Third, the current lack of internship and employment information. Although the college has carried out career development-related work, students reported that the sense of participation and gain is insufficient; Sufficient alumni resources are not used efficiently, and it should establish a relationship with internship, employment and society. Practice and effective linkage mechanism of curriculum teaching, better Performance of Alumni Association strengthen emotional connection, and provide assistance for students' growth.
Leaders of EMS said that the college adheres to the guidance of student development, and student development is the core of the college's training. EMS will continue to improve the working mechanism, create an education mode more conducive to student development, and provide more abundant development resources. First, EMS will organize psychological safety education activities to relieve students' pressure and guide students to develop a positive attitude and healthy lifestyle in their study and life. Second,EMS will start to revise the training plan, and let students participate in the development of the training plan, so that the training plan can be more in line with the interests and requirements of the student group, and students can better understand the training objectives, clear their future development direction. Third, EMS will benchmark the development model of top universities and promote the branding of alumni activities; Spread out the contact network of young alumni to make alumni more grounded; At the same time, we are setting up the column of exchange projects of alumni enterprises, preparing the student internship plan, so that young alumni can become the "career planners" of students.
Finally, Du Xiaocheng, Secretary of the Party committee of the college, spoke highly of the activity, affirmed the efforts made by student representatives in the work of rights and interests, and appreciated the enthusiasm of student representatives in giving advice and suggestions for the college.
